MEDICAL EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM

RESEARCH PLAN
INTRODUCTION:
We are basically planning to make the alert system that will be helpful to medical patient. It will take the position of nurse in hospitals as well as we can put the system at home also. We are planning to setup medical emergency system with acquiring only one data that is measuring the temperature of human body. After getting good results with measuring the body temperature, we may go for another parameters like blood pressure, heart rate, and pulse rate. We are also thinking of designing the infusion pump that will deliver the drug to the patient. Below, Working block diagram is showing what actually we are planning and how we will work according to our plan.

Patient having sensors: In our system, we will put the different sensors like temperature sensor, blood pressure sensor, airflow sensor, patient position sensor, sensor for measuring heart rate and pulse rate on the patient body. Actually, these sensors are available with the e-health board. In our project, we are planning to start with only temperature sensor and then, we may go for another parameters.
E health board: E health board is compatible with Arduino and it comes with different sensors that I already mansion above. Temperature sensor will be put on the patient arm and another end will be at E health board.   E health shield will give us real time data and it will be connected to the Arduino board for further experiments or research.

Arduino Board: Arduino board will be connected to the e health shield board and we will interface the Arduino to the computer for real time as well as continues measurement of the parameters. We will also use Arduino for controlling the solenoid motor and motor will control the infusion pump.
Computer: In the computer, we will use MATLAB for further programming. We are planning to send out the emails and text messages to the doctor or any health center. We already come up some solution of how to email data to the health center with MATLAB function ‘sendmail’. About text messages, we are searching the ways for it. Computer will give email only when we will need it like when the patient’s body temperature will decrease by some amount or increase by some amount. And on 2nd part we will need MATLAB for programming the motor. In this part, our program will drive the motor and infusion pump will inject the drug to the patient. So, this is about the software part. Another thing, we are planning is to create database of measuring parameter in the excel and we will connect it to MATLAB and it will send the data after certain periods of time.    
Infusion pump: This system will provide us the medicine when patient need it. It will work according to the output temperature or any other parameters. We are thinking about the infusion pump that will be driven by the motor. Infusion pump will directly inject the medicine to the patient body. Here, important thing is we are not going to use same function as infusion pump has. We are planning to provide medicine according to our measuring data. For example, if heart rate is increased too much, then and only then, pump will inject the medicine to the body.  We also can include various functions on infusion pump like amount of dosage or time period.  
Working of the infusion pump:
Figure (2) is showing how infusion pump will be  to work. We are planning to use the solenoid motor and it will be driven by the MATLAB program. Algorithm will be created in such way that when the body temperature will increased only then, motor will be driven and drug will be injected to the body to avoid the emergency.
